Run 96. Coronavirus Ghost town. Part 3. 15/4/2020.

I got my first learning for this run before I even took my first step. Having done a bit of work outside the house yesterday I overused my back and it ended up seizing up on me. Despite a bit of pain I took a couple of Panadol and a warm shower to get started and headed out for my run. Bit uncomfortable at the start, and a bit slow, but finally got properly warmed up and started to feel OK. No records today.

Headed towards a couple of hospitals to acknowledge the work of health workers as the CoronaVirus continues to impact life (and exercise). First I went past Caulfield Hospital but not a lot of CoronaVirus evidence here. From there I headed to the Alfred in Commercial Rd which is really the headquarters of all activity. A small tent city had been set up for testing and it was obvious that this pandemic was having a big impact on the city and the world.

Got my selfie and decided to head off to limit my time in this area as testing was in full swing. I decided that a sore back for a few days was probably better than catching the virus and I had no need to take any unnecessary risks. Took the scenic way back home through St Kilda but not a lot of people out and about. Just eerie.

My Three Learnings

  1. Work in the garden is not necessarily a good pre run routine.

  2. Backs are an important part of the running system.

  3. Health workers are heros.
